    At LoveCater, your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information from all users of the LoveCater platform, including restaurants, customers, and delivery drivers. By using LoveCater, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

    1. Information We Collect

    We collect different types of information depending on how you use LoveCater:

    Account Information (All Users)

    • Name, email address, phone number
    • Profile photo and account preferences
    • Login credentials and authentication data

    Customer Information

    • Delivery addresses and location information
    • Order history, preferences, and special instructions
    • Payment information (processed securely by Stripe—see below)

    Restaurant Information

    • Business name, address, contact information
    • Menu items, descriptions, images, and pricing
    • Bank account details for payouts
    • Order history, preparation times, and fulfillment data

    Driver Information

    • Driver's license, vehicle registration, and insurance documents
    • Vehicle information (make, model, year, license plate)
    • Bank account details for earnings payouts
    • Real-time GPS location data while on-duty to enable order tracking and route optimization
    • Delivery history and performance metrics

    Device and Usage Data

    • Device type, operating system, browser, and IP address
    • App usage analytics and interactions with the platform
    • Crash reports and diagnostic information

    2. How We Use Your Information

    We use the information we collect to:

    • Operate and improve the LoveCater platform
    • Process and fulfill catering orders and deliveries
    • Enable real-time order tracking and driver dispatch
    • Process payments and payouts securely
    • Send push notifications about order status, delivery updates, and promotions
    • Provide customer support and resolve issues
    • Analyze usage trends and improve user experience
    • Ensure safety, security, and compliance with our terms
    • Communicate updates, offers, and account notices

    3. Drivers and Location Data

    For delivery drivers: When you are on-duty and available for deliveries, LoveCater collects your live GPS location in real-time. This data is used to:

    • Match you with nearby orders
    • Provide customers with live tracking of their delivery
    • Optimize routing and navigation using Mapbox services
    • Ensure efficient and timely deliveries

    Location tracking is only active while you are logged in and available for deliveries. You can disable location sharing at any time by going offline or logging out. Historical location data is retained for up to 30 days for analytics and dispute resolution.

    4. Photos and Proof of Delivery

    Drivers may use their device camera to upload proof-of-delivery photos. These photos are:

    • Stored securely in our database
    • Shared with the customer and restaurant for verification
    • Retained for up to 90 days for dispute resolution

    By uploading a photo, you confirm that you have the right to share that image. Do not include sensitive or private information in delivery photos.

    5. Push Notifications

    With your permission, LoveCater sends push notifications to keep you informed about:

    • Order confirmations and status updates
    • Delivery arrival alerts
    • Driver assignment and tracking information
    • Promotional offers and announcements (which you can opt out of at any time)

    You can manage notification preferences in your device settings or within the LoveCater app.

    6. Third-Party Services

    LoveCater uses trusted third-party services to provide secure and reliable functionality:

    Supabase

    Secure cloud database and authentication services for storing user data and managing accounts.

    Firebase

    Push notifications, app analytics, and performance monitoring to improve the user experience.

    Mapbox

    Real-time maps, routing, and navigation services for drivers and order tracking.

    Stripe

    Secure payment processing. LoveCater does not store your payment card information. All payment data is processed and stored securely by Stripe in compliance with PCI-DSS standards.

    These third parties are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to LoveCater.

    7. Sharing of Information

    We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information with:

    • Customers: Restaurant name, menu, order details, driver name and location (for tracking)
    • Restaurants: Customer delivery address, order details, driver information
    • Drivers: Pickup and delivery addresses, customer contact information (for order fulfillment)
    • Service providers: As described above (Supabase, Firebase, Mapbox, Stripe)
    • Legal authorities: When required by law, regulation, or legal process

    8. Data Security

    We take data security seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect your information:

    • Encrypted data transmission: All data is transmitted over secure HTTPS connections
    • Secure data storage: All data is encrypted at rest in our cloud infrastructure
    • Role-based access controls and authentication
    • Regular security audits and monitoring
    • Compliance with industry best practices

    While we use reasonable efforts to protect your data, no system is completely secure. Please use strong passwords and report any suspicious activity immediately.

    9. Data Retention

    We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specific retention periods:

    • Account information: Until account deletion is requested
    • Order history: Up to 7 years for legal and accounting purposes
    • Driver location data: Up to 30 days
    • Delivery photos: Up to 90 days
    • Financial transaction records: Up to 7 years as required by law

    You may request deletion of certain data by contacting us (see "Your Rights" below).

    10. Your Rights

    You have the right to:

    • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
    • Correction: Update or correct your account information at any time
    • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements)
    • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from promotional communications
    • Data portability: Request your data in a portable format

    11. Children's Privacy

    LoveCater is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us immediately.

    12. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or service offerings. Significant changes will be communicated via email, in-app notifications, or dashboard alerts. Your continued use of LoveCater after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
